The Wentworth Africa Foundation

Wentworth Africa Foundation (WAF) is a charitable foundation registered in Canada, the United Kingdom and Tanzania, set up in 2007 as the vehicle for Wentworth Resources Limited’s corporate social responsibility program.

Our Mission

Wentworth Africa Foundation’s mission is to provide, through active and personal volunteer involvement, fundamental resources for secondary schools in Southern Tanzania and Northern Mozambique.

What do we do?

The Wentworth Africa Foundation is dedicated to funding and facilitating projects that support and empower children and young people in underdeveloped regions of Africa.

Where we work

We work principally in the southern regions of Tanzania in Mtwara and Lindi supporting projects that improve young people’s access to education. We do this in partnership with local authorities, regional partners and NGOs to achieve as much impact as possible.

What have we achieved?

Since we began our work, we have funded libraries and books, sponsored vocational training, put in water systems so the students have clean drinking water and built schools: we believe that investing in young people and their education strengthens communities and local economies and empowers the people we work with.

Our Programmes

We run all kinds of programmes to help achieve our goals. Some of these include: an Education Sponsorship programme, Libraries for secondary schools programme, The Solar-Light Project for Secondary Schools and many more. Find out details and how you can get involved on our website below.
